Celebrities, NFL athletes and thousands of spectators will converge on more than one million pounds of freshly poured sand at Victory Field in Indianapolis to compete in DIRECTV’s Sixth Annual Celebrity Beach Bowl, presented by SPIKE TV, on Saturday, Feb. 4.

The event, which has grown over the years to become one of the most anticipated events of Super Bowl weekend, is free and open to the public. The game itself features Hollywood’s brightest stars competing against NFL greats in a no-holds-barred flag football game in front of thousands of fervent fans. The action will take place in a specially constructed stadium complete with a sand-filled football field and concert stage. Immediately following the game and trophy presentation the crowd will fill the beach for a concert, presented by Palladia HD, featuring The Fray performing songs from their upcoming album Scars and Stories.

Apparently, pretty runs in Blaine’s family: White Collar hunk Matt Bomer is nearing a deal to guest-star in an April episode of “Glee” as the Warbler’s older brother.

This is big for a number of reasons. Among them:? Since this will be the first time we meet any of the other Andersons, we might finally learn a bit about Blaine’s apparently gorgeous kin.

This will also be the first time a lot of people will get to hear Bomer sing — because yes, natch, his character will get in on his sib’s musical number.

Congratulations Matt on your new film project!

Julia Roberts and Alec Baldwin, plus White Collar star Matt Bomer and Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons, are joining Mark Ruffalo in the autobiographical drama, written by Larry Kramer, that details the rise of HIV/AIDS in New York’s gay community in the 1980s. Murphy, who hit mainstream success with Glee, is directing from a script by Kramer.

Ryan Murphy is putting together an all-star cast for his latest film project, the big-screen adaptation of the Tony Award-winning drama The Normal Heart, being produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B shingle.

The play won the Tony for best revival last year, as well as best supporting actor and best supporting actress (for John Benjamin Hickey and Ellen Barkin, respectively). It also garnered nominations for best actor and best directing. It was originally staged Off-Broadway in 1985 and has seen several revivals in London and Los Angeles.

Bomer’s character is that of Felix Turner, a gay fashion journalist who becomes Week’s boyfriend and tragically contracts the disease. Bomer will be stepping into the shoes that won Hickey his Tony.

George Clooney and Martin Sheen will play plaintiffs’ lead co-counsel David Boies and Theodore B. Olson, the all-star attorneys who notably faced-off in Bush v. Gore. Christine Lahti and Jamie Lee Curtis will play plaintiffs Kris Perry and Sandy Stier, a lesbian couple together for eleven years and the parents of four boys. Matthew Morrison and Matt Bomer will play plaintiffs Paul Katami and Jeff Zarrillo, a gay couple together over ten years.

On Saturday, February 11, Peter Gallagher and Matt Bomer will each receive an Arts and Activism Award at the 2012 Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards gala, held at the Palm Springs Convention Center, benefiting Desert AIDS Project. They will join host Joan Rivers, entertainers Queen Latifah, Wynonna Judd, Megan Mullally, and David Burnham, as well as an array of other celebrities seated throughout the room.

Matt Bomer, star of TV’s “White Collar,” is on Gallagher’s heels as one of the “new generation activists of stage and screen” for causes including HIV/AIDS. After speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2011 AIDS Walk in New York City’s Central Park on May 15, Bomer joined 45,000 others who walked to raise more than $6.2 million for Gay Men’s Health Crisis and 41 other AIDS service organizations in the tri-state area. Just two weeks earlier, he’d also had his walking shoes on to raise money for breast and ovarian cancer research on April 30 at the Revlon Run/Walk for Women from Times Square to Central Park.

As an in-demand actor who is also the father of three children, Bomer strongly supports marriage equality. That’s why, this September, he appeared in a one-night-only staged reading of “8,” the play written by Dustin Lance Black, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of “Milk,” about California’s notorious Proposition 8, which made same-sex marriage illegal. Proceeds from the staged reading, performed at New York’s Eugene O’Neill Theatre benefited the American Foundation for Equal Rights, which funds the fight for full federal marriage equality and supports educational efforts on the freedom to marry nationwide.

Since 1995, the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards have been honoring the contributions of those who are making a difference in AIDS care, prevention, and research. Each year, they honor local community leaders as well as those in the fields of science and medicine. The gala also honors those who use their celebrity from stage and screen – or elected office – to shine a light on the fact that AIDS is not over and is still a concern, both globally and right here in our own backyard.

Gallagher and Bomer will join the ranks of fellow celebrities, including Ann-Margret, Carol Channing, Kristen Chenoweth, Tyne Daly, Jerry Herman, Senator Ted Kennedy, Judith Light, Bob Mackie, Barry Manilow, Maureen McGovern, Bebe Neuwirth, Rosie Perez, Pauley Perrette, Mary Steenburgen, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and Dionne Warwick.
