Question for those on the site. In an older interview Matt told the story of stealing his brothers car and joy riding with his buddies when he was a teen. I do believe I heard this but want to see if he repeated it elsewhere or if someone else heard it too: what did/does his Dad call him due to his energy? A nickname.

It would be fun to see some baby Matt photos!

@Mary: On his latest Jimmy Kimmel appearance, he said his parents called him “Matthew Bomer” when they were angry with him. I don’t remember any other nickname though.
@Milo: Unfortunately, this is the youngest photo we have of Matt:

Notice how Amanda leans towards Matt ? Who wouldn’t? Amanda you are a lucky girl! In Matt’s younger picture he doesn’t look himself…he doesn’t look like the Matt Bomer of today but still cute ? thanks kelly!

If you think about Matt’s life and schedule he must have and maintain a great deal of energy to do 15 + hours per day on set, attend appearances, social life and flying back and forth from coast to coast to be with his family as reularly as possible.
I could be wrong, but have no one who heard this but me, so far; when he returned home with the car and a beyond flat tire, his Dad was in the doorway in his tidy-whitey’s and told the then teen Matt, get in here ‘Mad Bomber’. What a great nick name! That is what I heard and can understand it when raising a child with boundless energy and looking for places to expend it.

Thank you, Milo for that great shot of Matt as a young teen. He has come into his own these last few years, so if we all look back at our pix when we were about 13-14 years old, we really didn’t look the same as we do as adults.

@Mary, not sure what you’re trying to say, but if you want to thank someone it should be Kelly. Thanx Kelly. He was a cute kid.

Whoa, so much Matt stuff to catch up with. Many thanks, Kelly!
@Mary Sheer will power is probably more like it. He has commented on being more exhausted “than he thought humanly possible”.
I understand how that feels having worked 70-80 hour weeks myself for months on end. It grinds you down. When you’re in your twenties you can get away with it. In your thirties it’s a lot harder and starts to physically hurt. That exhaustion affects your judgment (I was in nearly two car accidents as a result of driving fatigued) and your ability to think creatively. It can also negatively impact your relationships with family and friends (you’re too exhausted).
That’s why I hope Matt has his priorities straight and he spends his time away from the set taking care of himself and the most important relationships in his life.

Thanks, Amanda, for sharing the picture of you and the White Collar men =)
I’m so happy for you! Wish I was there.

Melissa: I agree completely. No I was mentioning his father’s nickname for Matt as a youngster. I really believe I heard Matt repeat it as, ‘Mad Bomber’. Loved it! As for his priorities, I believe he has them in place, his family comes first when the work day is over. He has a good support system at home and that makes all this, that he has earned, much better.

The ‘Dressed to Kilt’ affair is coming up tomorrow. Hope there are some great pix of Matt when it is over.

I have to disagree with the “Mad Bomber”, what you were actually hearing was a Southern accent saying “Matt Bomer”…. That’s just the way it sounds in the South. LOL! – Born and raised in Georgia!
